For immediate release

From Keith Wood, Dir. of Public Safety, Maryville, Mo Public Safety Department

ASSISTANCE SOUGHT IN 40 YEAR OLD

COLD CASE

August 4 will mark 40 years since the 1973 homicide of Teresa Sue “Tess” Hilt from Chillicothe.

Tess, then just 22, had graduated from NWMSU in May of ’73 with a degree in Elementary Ed and had started work on her Master’s degree while staying in Maryville over that summer.  She was found brutally stabbed in her north Maryville apartment.

Recent events such as the posting of a Facebook page in her honor have yielded some new information and re-stimulated the investigative efforts.  “Friends” of the Facebook have speculated and wondered what the life of Tess might have been over the last 40 years had her life not been abruptly and prematurely ended.

Police are still hopeful that a missing puzzle piece might be supplied that could bring justice to Tess even after all these many years.  Somebody, someplace knows something that could still bring  closure in this case.

Anyone with information in this case is encouraged to contact Maryville Public Safety at 660-562-3209 or confidentially supplied to Tips4Tess@aol.com.

Further information may be obtained via Tess Hilt Facebook page, justicefortess.com and defrostingcoldcases.com.
